Fantastic event and atmosphere great vibe and energy all round
It was my first 10k event and I loved it .. I would recommend it to anyone who would like to do there first 10k .
Fantastic family event funding for charities
As I know Karl, who was the tail runner, I had the privilege to join him for the last lap of the half marathon. It was great (for me!).
Unfortunately, the last runner was not running. This very friendly gentleman started his second lap just at 11am. One of the volunteer at that spot had said that the cutting time was 11am, which made sense, especially if the last runner was not running.
My point is, would it be possible, next year, to implement this cut-off time? I feel it would be only fair to all the volunteers who had to wait and wait and wait... and to Karl or whoever is tail running.
I did not do the whole second lap, but was impressed by the friendliness and understanding of all the volunteers who knew they would be in their position for a long longer than planned.
Thank you for organising such a great event.
You are correct about the cut-off time. I think next year it will be moved to 10:45 so 1.5 hrs for the first lap. There was a mistake made where that cutoff was not enforced and that was my mistake. I have apologised to the marshals and it will not happen in the future.
Fantastic event
Second time of taking part in this event. Brilliantly organised, friendly, great location, plenty of loos, what’s not to like? Thank you to the amazing volunteers for being so supportive during a very hot 10k!
Great course, very well organised although rather hot!

Woking is a lovely place!
I travelled from North Wales for this event, having never been to Woking before. The place was lovely, and being a huge H G Wells fan, I found the whole thing delightful.
Being an early summer event, I would suggest starting it earlier in the future, perhaps 8am! The heat made this a tough event!
Thank you for your comments. As I have explained to others, there is only a small group that arranges this event - all volunteers. A couple of us set the course arrows on the Saturday before erecting the race village. I and others are on the course from about 04:30 and then the marshals are in by 07:30 for briefing. Bringing it forward a bit sounds like a simple fix but the knock on effects are that we may not get our marshals, who we definitely rely upon, and I would get even less sleep!
Friendly event, well organised!
This event has become a staple in my race calendar, not just because it’s local, but for so many reasons! It’s for a great cause and so well organised, everyone is super friendly, it’s relaxed and the atmosphere is superb. Somehow they always get great weather too!

Martians run close to the sun!
Well organised and coordinated just the one element you can’t control being a challenge. Sun seems to be an annual issue but it feels like this year it was the hottest yet. Maybe encourage spectators and Marshalls to have water pistols and water balloons next year?
I would love to issue all the marshals with water pistols but some may not see the light hearted side of that.
Great local race
Extremely well organised and run. Superb event
Last year on the 10km, there were distance markers which seemed to be missing this year. Would very much appreciate it if they could be brought back as its great for pacing. Otherwise a fabulous event.
As I have mentioned to others, this year the 21k route was altered to keep it more in the shade but that meant the three adult distances split. At any given point the 10k and 21k were at different distances on lap 1. We could have distance markers for different distances but we are only a small team of volunteers and in simple terms we run out of time.
A most excellent time was had by all
Loved the music at the start
Clear visibility on who’s running what race!
Can I recommend you encourage runners to wear a certain colour top/item of clothing depending on the race they are running ( e.g. blue 10km, yellow 1/2 marathon). Failing that provide the ability to see the race distance on the back of tops. It’s very difficult to tell when running who is in what race especially from an overtaking perspective so the clearer visibility would be better.

A great run for all. Well organised, with cheerful volunteers. Results and photos emailed in super quick time. My 2nd year running here and would definitely do again.
Only slight problem was the heat for a 2nd year, so an earlier start might be good, but obviously depends on volunteers and logistics...
But thank you! Great race
Such a fun family friendly event for any level
It would be great to have the distance on the medal. Doesn’t seem right to have the same medal as someone who has done 21k
We order X amount of medals. I will vary the number of runners in a particular event depending upon how many sign up. If not many people are signing up for the 5K I will move some of their allocation to the 10K which is the biggest entry. If the medals had distances it would limit out ability to adjust numbers to meet needs and as they were a smaller number of each medal they would cost us more. Our bottom line is to raise money for the charities so we limit expense where we can.
One of my favourite days of the year!
Excellent organisation! Really love this event every year!
Would there be a possibility of having pacers in each race next year?
Amazing if it isn't as hot as the sun, unsure id do it again in a heat wave
I think if it's easy to organise, I think maybe more water stations for during a heat wave. It was brutal but I am a slower runner.
The Marshalls were absolutely amazing- cheered me on like I was winning first place. Brilliant.
Our marshals are one of our strongest attributes. We are so lucky to have them. We constantly look at water stations but we do need the people to staff them.
Great cause and great support for each other
Loved the extra toilets this year
Made a massive difference
Thank you and see you next year
A fantastic event, highly recommend!
Huge cheer for amazing marshals and organisers that made the event so enjoyable .
Brutal heat but the organisation and friendliness of all involved made it a really spectacular event. I loved running along through the woodland and along the paths. Thank you for all involved. I felt such an achievement despite being one of the last few home on the 10K
As part of Horsell Runners you soon learn that the only person you are running against is yourself. It was not easy especially in the heat and you have every right to feel proud of yourself.
Out of this world
What an awesome event. The location was stunning on a glorious day. very well organized, and I loved the war of the world’s music on the start line. The Martians ,sorry I mean Marshalls was absolutely fantastic on the day. you will definitely see myself in my partner coming back again next year[on our spaceship, of course] and highly recommended if you have never done it before.
Thanks, Glen and Debbie
